At the beginning station of the Food Power Adventure exhibit, these students learn about how farmers start the food process by growing wheat and other important crops. The University of Missouri Extension put on the exhibit at the Litton Agri Science Learning Center for local and area students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

The University of Missouri Extension reached nearly 700 local and area students through its Food Power Adventure this week at the Litton Agri Science Learning Center. The popular traveling exhibit was held Tuesday through today (Thursday) and was for students in kindergarten through fifth grades.
Local schools in attendance for the exhibit were Field School, Central School and Bishop Hogan of Chillicothe.  Southwest of Livingston and Polo also had students at the exhibit.
Students traveled the path from the farmer’s field to the playing field.  Along the way, students learned the answers to the questions, “Where does food come from?” and “How does it give me energy to help me grow?”
“Food Power Adventure is the kind of active learning experience students need to help them see how the food choices they make give them the energy they need to play and grow,” said Janet Hackert, the Extension representative.  “In addition to being a fun way for kids to learn about nutrition, the school is also meeting its wellness policy and state education standards.”
