Three Hale teens received serious injuries and two others received moderate and minor injuries after a one-vehicle accident on Route H, just six miles west of Hale, at 7:35 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday) in Livingston County.
The 2001 Chevy, driven by Dalton Crackenberger, 14, of Hale, was eastbound on Route H when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle returned to the road and overturned twice, coming to a rest on its wheels and partially on the right side of the road.
Crackenberger and three passengers were ejected from the automobile.
Brittany Cooper, 13, and Crackenberger were LifeFlighted to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
Kylee Cooper, 16, also listed with serious injuries, was transported to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. Also taken to Hedrick were Brianna Kirk, 13, listed with minor injuries and Ericka McDowell, 16, with moderate injuries.
Brittany Cooper, Kylee Cooper and Dalton Crackenberger, all listed with serious injuries, were not wearing their seatbelts.
Kyle Cooper, Brianna Kirk and Erica McDowell were all treated at Hedrick Medical Center and released. Brittany Cooper and Dalton Crackenberger were treated at Children’s Mercy Hospital and released.
Missouri State Highway Patrol officer Cpl. J. Pithan, Troop H, was assisted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.
