‘Crop circle’ generates interest

Crop Circles
By Kim Buckner
This aerial photograph taken Sunday by Kim Buckner of a nearby farm field generated much interest and speculation as to how the design was created. It was learned today that Stanley Zell of Meadville created it last fall when he was planting a food plot and drilled wheat in a circular motion. The field had been under water since last week’s flood and the design became visible after floodwaters receded.

He saw the circle out of the corner of his eye and immediately told the pilot to turn around and circle the strange marking on the land. The pilot did so and then landed to get Joe’s mother, Kim, and her camera. The oddity was equally puzzling to Kim.

After taking the picture she sent it to Donna and Stanley Zell, who own the farm on which the design was found. The farm is located in the Locust Creek bottoms of Linn County. .....
