Geraldine “Gerry” Schwab, age 89, of Brookfield, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at Life Care Center in Brookfield.

Geraldine “Gerry” Schwab, age 89, of Brookfield, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at Life Care Center in Brookfield. A funeral service will be Friday, December 8, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield with Scott Knebel officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Brookfield. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening at the funeral home. Memorials to Life Care Center Activity Fund may be left at or mailed to Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628. Geraldine Fern, daughter of Harry and Jessie (Patch) Betts, was born March 29, 1928, in Guthrie County, Iowa. On November 14, 1945, she married Richard Schwab who preceded her in death on November 9, 2013. Gerry was a homemaker. She and her husband also owned and operated the Dairy Sweet in Brookfield until the business was destroyed by a tornado in 1975. She also spent many years as a checker at IGA and Esry’s in Brookfield. Her jobs were many but the pride of her life was her family and she was always the happiest when surrounded by them. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Brookfield where she was active in the Ladies L.I.F.T. Group. Before becoming a member of the Nazarene Church Gerry served as a Sunday school teacher for the First Christian Church in Brookfield. ­Survivors include her three children, Leslie Schwab and wife, Connie of Milan, Illinois, Pamela Gupton and husband, Dale, and Angela Stinson and husband, Richard all of Brookfield; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Schwab) Finnell and husband, Joey, Michelle (Schwab) Saunders and husband, Donald, Anthony Long, William Schwab and wife, Julie, Richard Schwab, LeAnna (Rhodes) Lewis, Trudy Gupton, Amy (Stinson) Carriker and husband, Scott, and Mark Stinson and wife, Lindsey; 24 great-grandchildren, Jasmine Schwab, Jesse and Emily Perkins, Lauren, Hannah, Maddi, and Tyler Finnell, Shawn Fedderson, Rachel and Sarah Long, McKenzie, McKenna, and Austin Schwab, Skylar Rhodes, Matthew Lewis, Roslyn and Hayden Gamblin, Andrew, Jacob, Allison, and Avery Carriker, and Xavier, Isaac, and Maddox Stinson; three great great-grandchildren, Treighton Schwab, Remington Johnson, and Analaya Cedillo; one brother, Dewey Betts and wife, Denise of Alta, Iowa; one sister, Icil O'Connell of Madrid, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Betts of Whittemore, Iowa, and Lelia Grohe of Storm Lake, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Her parents; and three brothers, Alfred, Raymond and Dwight Betts also preceded her in death.
