Willa Jane Smith, 91, a resident of Chillicothe, passed away Sunday, May 06, 2018, at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Willa Jane Smith, 91, a resident of Chillicothe, passed away Sunday, May 06, 2018, at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe, Missouri. Willa Jane was born the daughter of Grover “Pard” C. Smith and Josephine Ella (Cox) Smith on December 26, 1926, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a 1944 graduate of Chillicothe High School. Willa became an accountant right out of high school and began a long career at Mart Drug Co. where she eventually became the Secretary and Treasurer. She was a member of the Highview Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a professional involved in many aspects of the City of Chillicothe and the state of Missouri. In 1982, she was elected to the City Council. Willa Jane held many office as she was Vice President of the Chillicothe Board of Public Works, Council Woman at Large, Council Woman 2nd Ward, President of the Livingston Co. Historical Society, 3rd Vice President of the 8th District, District Democratic Women’s Club, and two –time President of the Livingston County Women’s Democratic Club. She was the Chairman of Chillicothe Salvation Army Advisory Board in 1988 and 1989. She was a member of the State Democratic Committee, and Vice Chairman of the 6th District Democratic Committee. Willa Jane is survived by four God daughters, Pat Rinehart, and husband, Bob, Sedalia, Missouri; Trichelle Martin and husband, Darin, Lees’s Summit, Missouri ; Aimee Cohen and husband, Mark, Columbia, Missouri; and Mendy Peters, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents.
