Mary Dewey, age 87, of Liberty, formerly of Meadville, passed away, Friday, June 29, 2018, at Addington Place in Kansas City. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Meadville with Pastor Keith Sisney and Pastor Rex Leppin officiating. Burial will be in Meadville Cemetery in Meadville. Visitation will be Monday, July 2, 2018, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield. Memorials to Meadville First Baptist Church or Meadville Cemetery may be left at the church or mailed to Wright Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628. Mary Elizabeth, daughter of H.A. (Dutch) Stelplugh and Mary (Newsom) Stelplugh, was born December 29, 1930, in Meadville. On September 1, 1950, she married Caryol Dewey who preceded her in death on June 3, 2012. Mary graduated from Meadville High School in 1949. She owned and operated Dewey Oil Company with her husband in Meadville for 33 years. She worked as a book keeper in the early years of their marriage. She was a life long member of the First Baptist Church in Meadville and attended the First Baptist Church in Kearney with her family while residing in Liberty. Mary was an active member of her church and community. Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Forest) Flickinger and Diane (Jim) Gardner both of Liberty; two granddaughters, Megan (Joshua) Wright of Olathe, Kansas and Mallory (Alex) Mumford of Northridge, California. Her parents; two sisters, Betty (Stelplugh) Heller and Margaret Stelplugh; and one brother, Richard (Dick) Stelplugh also preceded her in death. The family wishes to thank Addington Place at Shoal Creek and Crossroads Hospice for their loving care.
