Leonard Delbert Deweese, 87, formerly of Whitesville, Mo., and Wheeling, Mo., died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Pineview Manor, Stanberry, Mo.

Leonard was born February 18, 1923 in Eli, Neb., the son of William Deweese and Florence Spence Deweese. On February 14, 1946 Leonard married his wife of 64 years, Vera Bernice Waite, in Kansas City, Kan. Vera was originally from Wheeling, Mo., and they resided there for several years. She survives of the home.

He was a graduate of Crookston High School in Crookston, Neb.

Leonard worked for many years in the construction industry as a roofer, traveling to several nearby states to work.

He was a member of the Wheeling United Methodist Church.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Vera; six children, Ted, Wasco, Mo., Sandra Montgomery, Fisherville, Ky., Willa Trimmer, Rosendale, Mo., Lynard, St. Joseph, Mo., Bret, Maysville, Mo., and Wesley, Easton, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gloria Vance; three brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Mo. There is no visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.
