Leo Louis Myers, 88, a resident of Overland Park, Kan., former resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Greenwood Terrace, Lenexa, Kan.

He was born Aug. 30, 1921 in Portageville, Mo., the son of Hal and Eleanor E. (Knueven) Myers. On May 16, 1945 he married Rosemary Catherine Englert in Chillicothe, Mo. She preceded him in death on Aug. 13, 1995.

He was a 1939 graduate of Portageville, Mo.

Leo served in the United States Navy from 1941 until 1947 as an aviation mechanic. He was employed as a mail carrier by the United States Postal Service, also by the Missouri Department of Transportation, and a farmer.

He was a member of he St. Columban’s Catholic Church in Chillicothe, Mo. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood crafting.

He is survived by three sons, Jody Myers and wife Marilyn, Leawood, Kan., H. Phillip Myers and wife Mary, The Villages, Fla., John Myers and wife Judith, Orick, Mo.; one daughter, Rose Ann Potter and husband Robert; two sisters, Mary Ellen Byrd, Punta Gorda, Fla., Stella Hickerson, W. Va.; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary; one brother, William Myers; one grandson, Clayton John Myers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Coluban’s Catholic Church in Chillicothe, Mo., on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 10 a.m. There will be a Parish Rosary on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 6 p.m. with a family visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to  p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinsons Foundation and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601. Online condolences may be left at www.lindleyfuneralhome.com.
