Verna Sites, 85, of Gettysburg, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at her home.
She was born June 11, 1924 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Simon and Harriet Miller Redding.  She is survived by her husband Richard A Sites, Sr.
Mrs. Sites was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg, where she was a member of the St. Monica Prayer Group and an Eucharistic Minister.  For many years she worked at Evelyn Logan’s Beauty Shop in Gettysburg, and later did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and Lutheran Homecare and Hospice.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two daughters, Susan M. Ziegler of New Hartford, NY and Barbara J. Duncan of Chillicothe, Mo.; a son Richard A. Sites of Gettysburg; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cathey Flynn of Winter Park, Fla.  She was preceded in death by a son, Gerard E. Sites.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 5. at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg, with Fr. Jonathan Sawicki celebrant.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.  There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, on Thursday, Feb. 4, from 6-8 p.m. with Rosary at 8 p.m.  Memorials can be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Building Fund, 22 West High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325, or Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 260 West High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325, or Alzheimer’s Association, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.  Online condolences can be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
