Felix Buckner, 93, of Wheeling, Mo., died at Indian Hills Nursing Home in Chillicothe, Mo., on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1916, the son of Henry W. and Ina Barnett Buckner in Linn County, Mo. He graduated from Chula High School, Chula, Mo., in 1934. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-46 in World War II. On Feb. 10, 1945, he married Helen Constant in Oakland, Calif. She survives of the home.
Felix was a resident of Wheeling since 1935 where he was a proud and successful farmer. He loved to play cards and work in his flower garden. Felix loved his family and was especially proud of his grandkids. He always looked forward to their visits.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Wayman and husband Gene of Blue Springs, Mo., and Pat Williams and husband Keith of Savannah, Mo.; six grandchildren, Melissa McKerlie of Kansas City, Mo., Mike Hamer of Utica, Mo., Jennifer Hamer of Blue Springs, and Scott E. Shannon, Todd Shannon and Emily Shannon of Chillicothe; and one great-grandchild, Hannah Hamer of Blue Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and four sisters.
Services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, at 1:30 p.m. There will be a family visitation on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling.
