Leta Josephine (Tuggle) Sparks, 85, of Meadville, Mo., formerly of Kansas City, Mo., and Trenton, Mo., passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Mo.
Leta was born Nov. 10, 1923 in Hamilton, Mo., daughter of Frank and Rosa (Riley) Tuggle. On Oct. 24, 1945 she married Harold Sparks of Cameron, Mo. They moved to Kansas City in 1951.
She was a 1941 Penney High School graduate, Hamilton, Mo. She was the secretary to the prosecuting attorney of Caldwell County.
While living in Kansas City, she worked as an abstractor for the Chicago Title Company and also at the Jackson County Courthouse for the county Recorder of Deeds. In 1976 her and her husband retired and moved to Meadville, Mo., where she worked as a nurse’s aid at the Pershing Hospital, Brookfield, Mo., until 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Frizzell, Meadville, Mo., and Martha Campbell, Trenton, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, 2009 at 2 p.m at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hamilton, Mo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Mo.
