Jesse Melvin Thompson, 70, of Livingston County, Mo., passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009.

Jesse was born Oct. 7, 1938 in Dallas County, Mo., the son of Leslie Lee Thompson and Jessie Mae Tucker Thompson.

He was a graduate of Buffalo High School, Buffalo, Mo., in 1957.

Jesse was a veteran serving in the United States Army.

He worked for 35 years for Donaldson Corporation in Chillicothe, Mo., and also farmed for many years in the Tina, Mo., area.

Jesse enjoyed reading, woodworking and gardening but especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by three children, Brenda West and husband Wayne, and their son, Ethan, Carrollton, Mo., Rita Jones and husband Larry, and their children, Abby and Jasper, Chillicothe, Mo., and Leslie Thompson and wife Michelle, and their children, Krissy, Jessie, Cheyenne, Nichole, Stephanie, Chris, Amanda and Gracie, Richmond, Mo.; two brothers, Ethan Thompson, Buffalo, Mo., and Matt Thompson and wife Jody, Oak Grove, Mo.; two sisters, Alpha Nichols, Pea Ridge, Ark., and Imogene Williams, Independence, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Elvin Thompson and brother, Herb Thompson and a sister, Josephine Lockhart.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial will be in Avalon Cemetery, Avalon, Mo. A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.

Memorials in honor of Jesse Thompson may be made to Hedrick Medical Center Hospice and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.
