James F. Kavanaugh, 66, of Hamilton, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at his home.
Jim was born Nov. 18, 1943 in Braymer, Mo., to Charles Francis and Filetta Jane Dawson Kavanaugh. On June 5, 1965 he married Sherria K. Copple at the Ludlow Methodist Church, Ludlow, Mo.
He graduated from Hamilton High School, Hamilton, Mo., in 1961. He then attended college at Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Mo., taking classes in the emphasis areas of economics and business administration.
Jim was a former owner of Hamilton Supply Company. He had worked as a rec officer for three years at WMCC and CRCC in Cameron, and most recently he had worked in sales at the North Country Ford dealership in Cameron.
He had been a life-long member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church, Hamilton, Mo. Jim was also the president and a founding member of the former Hamilton Jaycees and Supper Club.
He had been a life-long resident of Hamilton, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; daughter, Christa Anne Lyon and husband Sheldon, Savannah, Mo.; sons, James Matthew Kavanaugh, Kearney, Mo., and Bradley Bryan Kavanaugh and wife Tina, Breckenridge, Mo.; five grandchildren, Madison Anne Lyon, James Logan Kavanaugh, Dawson Ira Kavanaugh, Macy K. Lyon, and Karly Kay Kavanaugh; sister, Carol Rice and husband Don, Hamilton, Mo.; brothers, David Kavanaugh and wife Dana and Lynn Kavanaugh and wife Jane, both of Hamilton, Mo.; aunts, Ina Faye Trosper, Skip Dunn and Doris Peters; uncle, R.D. Kavanaugh; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Hamilton United Methodist Church Family Life Center, Hamilton, Mo. Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Inurnment will be at a later date at McCroskie Cemetery, Breckenridge, Mo. Friends may call at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton, Mo., after 10 a.m. on Thursday.
