Lawrence Albert Jacobs, 93, of Chillicothe, Mo., passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at Morningside Center Nursing Home, Chillicothe, Mo.
Lawrence was born April 9, 1916 in rural Livingston County near Chula, Mo., the son of Peter Jacobs and Pearl Coberly Jacobs. He married his wife of 72 years, Katherine Louise Seifert on July 11, 1936. She survives of Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Mo.
Lawrence and Katherine farmed in the Chula, Mo., area for many years before moving to Chillicothe, Mo.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Katherine; two daughters, Shirlene Livingston and husband Gordon, Chillicothe, Mo., and Joyce Jones and husband David, Hale, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jerad Livingston, Cristina Herring and husband Matt, Sheri Cox and husband Kevin, and Larry Jones and wife Rita; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Singer and wife Jan, Abby Jones and Jasper Jones; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Lance Singer and Lance’s dad, Rodney Singer; four brothers, Claude Jacobs, Orville Jacobs, Peter Lee Jacobs and Nova Jacobs; four sisters, Okie Phillips, Irene Meservey, Bessie Scovill and Dorothy Hochin.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Mo., with Rev. Bob Kimmis officiating the service.
