Since there does not seem to be any activity on the part of our local government bodies to apply for stimulus money set aside for smaller communities, I am proposing one that has long been overlooked. This project covers three of the main objectives of the plan: Putting people back to work, roads and bridges.
It is the old bridge over the Milwaukee Railroad tracks on Bridge Street that also carries the traffic from Route V to and from Chillicothe.
I don’t know the actual safety condition or when it was last inspected. I do know if your traveling in an OATS bus over the bridge it’s pretty scary.
Also, there are some houses on Bridge Street that need to be torn down, while others just need a little help to keep people living in them. All these projects are a one time thing that will not affect present or future budgets. What say we give it a try?
