This past week, we saw a bit of turnover on the Chillicothe R-2 Board of Education, with the additions of Shawn Skoglund and Jason Bone to fill the seats vacated by Randy Constant and David Williams. Paul Thomas was elected board president, taking the position held by current board member Michael Leamer. In this, the first week of the new school board, information seemed to flow more freely from the district headquarters, and it did not take 72 hours for information to reach media sources after an executive session was held. Whether this was coincidence or indicates things to come is not known. What we, here at the C-T, do know, though, is that we appreciate the timely manner in which the board revealed their information this week, and commend them on this way of handling private matters. We ask that the board, as well as the district as a whole, keep up this pattern of open communication, as it was, undoubtedly, appreciated by not only the local media outlets, but by the citizens of the Chillicothe community as well. By sharing what they know and are doing in a timely manner, trust in our board can be built, and their image, along with the morale of the district, can begin to take a positive step in the right direction.
