LAREDO, Mo. — Bishop Hogan Memorial School’s girls’ and boys’ junior-high-school-age basketball teams defeated Pleasant View in the third and final round of the round-robin Laredo Invitational Tournament Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, and won both games to capture first place in each gender division, a BHMS source reports.
Both teams from the Chillicothe parochial school operated by St. Columban Catholic Church went undefeated in the tourney.
BHMS’ Lady Eagles wrapped up their crown with a 40-17 victory over Pleasant View. Izzie Montgomery and Ellie Barnett lead the team in scoring with 10 points apiece. Jessica Reeter and Essie Hicks each scored eight points, Alexis Anderson and Allison Higgins had two each and Kaylynn Cranmer,  Isabelle Witt,  and Lilly Stedem also played.
Teya Cooksey led Pleasant View’s scoring with 13 points.
The Eagles won their game with Pleasant View, a southern Grundy County school, 36-22.  James Matthew lead Bishop Hogan in scoring with 12 points. Jackson Reeter and Matty Douglas each scored eight points, Kyan Douglas four, and Carson Samm and Connor Douglas two points apiece. Also getting in the action were Patrick Kinsella, Kaden Cranmer, Cameron Williams, and Jake Gray.   
Kiefer Tolson lead Pleasant View with 15 points.  
Both Bishop Hogan are in tournament action again this week, this time at Jamesport.
