Blanked 2017 district-finals foe Trenton on road in Labor Day match

Chillicothe High School’s tennis Lady Hornets continued to sail through the early-season portion of their schedule on Labor Day, posting a third-consecutive shutout victory, 9-0 over the visiting Trenton Lady Bulldogs.

No. 1 singles was the closest set of the match. Lady Hornet senior Gracy Reeter shaded Jocelyn Emma Gilham 9-8 on a tiebreaker (tiebreaker score not available). In No. 1 doubles, Chillicothe’s Hannah Cypert and Hunter Keithley downed Gilham and Kendall Crowley 8-3.

G. Reeter and her sister Lucy also had a down-to-the-wire duel before gaining a 9-7 decision in No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 doubles, Macy Cavanah and Hannah Zimmerman fended off their Trenton foes 8-5.

Cypert and Cavanah both were shutout victors in Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively. Keithley won 8-1 at No. 2, Zimmerman 8-3 at No. 5, and L. Reeter 82 at No. 6.

Chillicothe improved 4-0 on the season.

Lady Hornets won three of the five junior-varsity doubles sets played. Winners were the combos of Allison Ishmael/ Delaney May, /Kayle McElwee/Megan Sisson, and Audrey Snider/Leah Lourenco.
