SAVANNAH — The Chillicothe High School soccer Hornets’ final regular-season game yesterday at Savannah ended with an 8-0 loss.
Chillicothe (3-13) will play Boonville at Marshall High School’s field Friday at 4 p.m. in its first district tournament game.
The Savages struck early and often yesterday as the Hornets were on their heels for most of the first 30 minutes, according to CHS head coach Bill Allison.
It was 7-0, Savannah, at halftime, but the Hornets were able to hold their hosts to one goal after that to extend the contest to a full-length second half.
The Savages did change their lineup around during the final 40 minutes, allowing several players to get extra time in positions at which they normally do not play, Allison noted.
The Hornets did see good play from several team members, Allison related.
Colton Whiteside “played one of his best games to date, even with the loss,” according to the coach. Whiteside fired three shots on goal and “was very active to the ball and away from it,” Allison reported.
