Approaching inclement weather and the possibility of treacherous travel conditions late tonight as teams might be heading home has led to another night of numerous postponements or cancellations of scheduled area high school sports Friday.

Tonight's (Friday's) scheduled Chillicothe boys' doubleheader (JV/varsity) at Cameron has been postponed, Chillicothe director of athletics and Hornets head coach Matt Brownsberger advised at about 2:30 p.m.

The Midland Empire Conference matchup will be made up tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at 3 o'clock, he reported. There will be one varsity game only with no jayvee contest, Brownsberger said.

Elsewhere, the Meadville vs. Newtown-Harris boys' and girls' high school basketball games scheduled for tonight at North Central Missouri College in Trenton have been cancelled, due to winter weather conditions, coaches at both schools announced via e-mail early this afternoon.

Meadville's boys are 21-0 and ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 1 and, after beating last year's state third-place finisher Glasgow Tuesday, were looking forward to another toughening test before going into district and, hopefully, state play.

While diminished through graduation losses after finishing second in the state this year, Newtown-Harris' boys still are having a very solid season, standing 17-4 overall with a Harrison-Daviess Conference-leading 7-0 mark.

Another Friday night postponement of which the C-T has been notified is the Winston at North Harrison girls' and boys' contests. Those are anticipated to be reset for next Thursday.
