One championship game and multiple semifinal meetings between area teams – all in Class 1 – were set up by Tuesday night’s outcomes in area high school basketball district tournaments.
The state-berth-deciding contest will be between the Hardin-Central and Norborne girls in the Class 1 District 9 tourney at Norborne Friday night. That was set up by their wins Tuesday.
Seven semifinal clashes will occur over the next couple of nights, starting with four tonight (Wednesday) at Purdin and one tonight at Jamesport. The other two – both as a result of boys’ play Tuesday – will be at Jamesport on Thursday.
That means, like the District 9 girls’ game, both title games in the Class 1 District 12 Tournament at Linn County School outside Purdin Friday will be all-area battles and Saturday’s boys’ championship game at Tri-County School of Jamesport, too.
Advancing Tuesday to district semifinal games were, in Class 1, the Ludlow: Southwest, Braymer, Stet, and host boys at Jamesport, the Hale and Linn County girls and boys at Purdin, and, in Class 2, the unbeaten Hamilton boys.
