ALBANY — A rematch of last year’s overtime title game was firmed up in Class 2 District 16 Thursday night with runaway victories by the unbeaten and state-top-ranked Hamilton Hornets and Mid-Buchanan.
Ken Ruffcorn’s Hornets (26-0) ran off 21 unanswered points to end the first half against Princeton to burst open what had been a slow-paced, six-point game. Up 42-15 at mid-game, Hamilton finished it off with a 60-point spread, 84-24.
Saturday’s championship game is slated for a 2 p.m. tipoff with the winner moving on to the sectional round of the Class 2 state tournament at North Central Missouri College in Trenton next Wednesday. The likely opponent there is unbeaten and third-ranked Wellington-Napoleon, which will meet Alma: Santa Fe in the District 15 finals at  Sweet Springs Saturday night.
