Chillicothe, Mo. -

The Fast Lane Family Entertainment Center in Chillicothe again will host the annual Professional Bowlers Association Midwest Region Tour Pepsi Fast Lane Open bowling tournament Friday-Sunday, Aug. 1-3.
The third-annual event at the Chillicothe lanes again will have two days of professional tournament competition, preceded by a pro-am event on Friday.
Last year's turnout was fantastic, in the view of the PBA and The Fast Lane management. Seventy pro bowlers, including PBA Hall of Fame member Pete Weber, competed in the regional tour pro event, while 67 local and area bowlers participated in the pro-am.
Approximately 500 spectators from throughout the midwest region also stopped by the center in north Chillicothe to view the event at some point during the weekend, according to an estimate by management.
In preparation for the tournament now just about five weeks away, organizers are seeking both event sponsors and pro-am participants.
For details on sponsorship opportunities or to register to "bowl with the pros" as an amateur in the Friday night pro-am, contact The Fast Lane at (660) 707-1700. Sponsorships must be finalized by next Tuesday, July 1.
After being held in September 2006 in its first year here, last year’s event moved to early July.
Dave Traber of Hebron, Ill., a four-time winner on the national Denny’s PBA Tour, emerged as champion of last year’s tournament, defeating Steve Yaros 226-193 in the final game to claim $2,100 first-place money.
Jason Wojnar of Chicago topped Tom Hess 237-202 in the 2006 tourney’s championship game to claim a $2,400 top prize.
The public is invited to be spectators at any of the sessions at no admission charge.
