CHILLICOTHE — Rochelle Gillilan had five goals going into Tuesday night’s game. After the Lady Hornets were done with Kansas City Lutheran, she had doubled her season total.
Gillilan busted out by scoring five goals, four in the first half, and leading Chillicothe to an 8-2 victory. With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 4-1 on the season.
Gillilan got the scoring started in the eighth minute by scoring on an usassisted goal to put the Lady Hornets up 1-0.
Two minutes later, Gillilan scored again, this time off of an assist from Lacey Nibarger.
Gillilan would score two more times before the first half was done, once in the 17th minute and again in the 28th minute. Both of the goals were unassisted and the Lady Hornets took a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Chillicothe outshot the Lady Knights 16-6 in the first half and kept the pressure on KC Lutheran into the second half.
The Lady Hornets started the second half the way they started the game, scoring early and often.
Gillilan scored her fifth goal, a CHS single-game record, in the 42nd minute. Her total of 10 goals for the season is also a single-season record for CHS and she is only five games into the season.
In the 44th minute, Chillicothe expanded their lead to 6-0 when Lacey Nibarger found the back of the net for her first career goal.
Madeline Brick kept the roll going with a shot that found the net in the 56th minute to give the Lady Hornets their biggest lead of the game, 7-0. The goal was Brick’s fourth of the season.
Kansas City Lutheran came back fighting with a pair of goals within minutes of each other.
Jessica Kunkel found the net to get the Lady Knights on the board for the first time of the game in the 74th minute.
