Chillicothe, Mo. -

Thursday night’s scheduled Chillicothe Mudcats baseball home game against the Clarinda A’s was rained out.

It will be made up Sunday, July 20, as part of a 5:05 p.m. doubleheader
when Clarinda makes its remaining scheduled visit to Chillicothe.

Thursday's postponement is the Mudcats' sixth in the first 20 days of the 2008 season – five of them weather-related – and the third involving Clarinda.  One of the Clarinda postponements was due to the fire which destroyed the A's team bus.

Another postponement came after nine innings of play between Chillicothe and the Mac-N-Seitz Athletics which saw the game tied 4-4. That game was suspended and is to be resumed at the start of the 10th inning next Thursday at 4 p.m. at Blue Springs.  After a conclusion is reached, the game originally scheduled for that day will be played at the Blue Springs South High School field.

Because of the postponements, Chillicothe's schedule is becoming more- and more-heavily backloaded into July.  Originally due to have 19 games on 16 playing dates prior to the start of the NBC Central USA Regional tournament, it now has 24 games (with five doubleheaders) in 19 playing dates.  Barring additional complications, the Mudcats will have four doubleheaders in one eight-day span (July 14-21) and six in  14 days (July 8-21).
