Nine years ago the Livingston County Genealogical Society (LCGS) organization dissolved and the last issue of Lifelines was published.
The LCGS was organized in 1986 to increase the education and knowledge of its members, and the public, in family history, genealogical records and the scientific principles of genealogical research.
Publication of Lifelines, a quarterly newsletter, began in 1987 and continued through volume 15 except for Volume 14 which was lost to an equipment malfunction. Contents included a wide variety of information about the people, places and events of Livingston and surrounding counties. There were 56 issues comprising 1,614 pages. Editors included Rosa Darr, Marie Dryden, Sue Jones and Bob Pigg.
Until recently copies of Lifelines were only available at the Livingston County Library. Now, due to the generous contributions of collections from Bob Pigg and Sue Jones, the State Historical Society of Missouri (SHS) also has a complete set.
As a part of a new initiative to make local genealogical societies newsletters available on the Internet, the SHS used Lifelines in a pilot project to provide a web based offering. They digitized images from the best-available copies and posted the results at: http://shs.umsystem.edu/index.shtml (The Lifelines site is just below the picture of Jerry Litton.)
You can search the online version of Lifelines by keyword, or browse through individual pages for more general information.
