Annual Snowflake Rebuilding Oct. 13
The annual Snowflake Rebuilding will take place starting at 4:30 p.m., on Oct. 13 in the CMU Warehouse at 1515 Waterworks Road. Area residents are encouraged to come and volunteer for as long as they wish to help with this ongoing holiday tradition.
911 Board to Meet Oct. 16
Public notice is hereby given that a meeting of the 911 Board of Livingston County, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m., in the conference room of the Home of Sliced Bread,100 Elm Street. This organizational meeting tentative agenda will include the organization of the board and any other matters as may be appropriate for discussion at this time.
Susanna Circle to Host Silent Auction and Bake Sale on Oct. 17
Susanna Circle, United Methodist Church, Chillicothe will hold a silent auction and bake sale on October 17, 10-11 a.m., in the CLC. Please plan to come and bring a friend. There is no admission cost and you may browse beginning at 9 a.m. Coffee cake and coffee or water will be served.
Tina-Avalon FFA and FBLA Students Offer Community Help to Raise Funds
Students at Tina-Avalon High School are rolling up their sleeves and getting to work this month as they raise money for future FFA and FBLA trips. They’re members of the freshman class at T-A.
According to advisor Jayde Johnson, a group of 14 students will be available to help with various community jobs from now through Oct. 17, and again on Oct. 25–26. The students are willing to take on a wide range of tasks to earn funds for upcoming educational and leadership trips through their organizations. Johnson says they’re open to helping with just about anything community members may need done.
Residents in the area who have jobs or projects the students can assist with are encouraged to reach out directly to Jayde Johnson at the T-A school for more information.
Livingston County Democrat Meeting to be Held Oct. 21
The next Livingston County Democrat Meeting will be held from 5-6:30 p.m., on Oct.21, at the Historic Bethel A.M.E Church, 200 Henry Chillicothe. Speaker will be Matthew Levine.
Safe Sitter Class Offered Oct. 24
The Livingston County Health Center will be hosting a “Safe Sitter” class at its office on Friday, October 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. October 24 is a regularly scheduled day off from the Chillicothe R-II district.
The Safe Sitter program has operated since 1980 with the promise of providing medically accurate and developmentally appropriate curriculum that is interactive and engaging for all participants. Students learn how to practice important safety skills, handle emergencies, care for children, and how to treat illnesses and injuries. In addition, students learn important business skills, including how to screen jobs, set a wage, and work with employers.
The class will be the Safe Sitter Essentials class with Pediatric CPR Certification. This program is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students will be Pediatric CPR Certified upon completion of the course.
There is a fee of $25 to attend the class and registration is required, with a deadline of Wednesday, October 22. Those interested can register online at https://www.livcohealthcenter.com/safesitter, or pick up at form at 800 Adam Drive in Chillicothe. Lunch will be provided.

Livingston County Library to Host Dungeons & Dragons Night Oct. 22
Adventure seekers and fantasy fans are invited to the Livingston County Library for an evening of tabletop excitement as the library hosts another Dungeons & Dragons game night on Wed., Oct. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The event, held in the second-floor courtroom of the library, invites players to roll the dice and dive into a world of epic quests, teamwork, and imagination. Participants can join ongoing storylines or create new characters as they explore the realms of D&D in a fun and welcoming setting.
Organizers encourage both newcomers and experienced players to attend and bring a friend. Dice and materials will be provided. The library offers the monthly Dungeons & Dragons sessions as part of its adult programming, designed for community connection through interactive storytelling.
Former KC Royal Eisenreich to Speak at FCA Home Team Banquet
The North Missouri Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host its annual Home Team Banquet on Tues., Oct. 28, 2025, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Chillicothe United Methodist Church, located at 1414 Walnut Street.
This year’s featured guest is Jim Eisenreich, a former Kansas City Royals player whose 18-year Major League Baseball career included time with the Minnesota Twins, Phillies, Marlins, and Dodgers. Eisenreich was part of two World Series teams—the 1993 Phillies and the 1997 World Champion Marlins—and was recognized for both his athletic achievements and his perseverance through personal challenges.
A native of St. Cloud, Minn., Eisenreich was drafted by the Twins in 1980 and made his major league debut two years later. Despite being sidelined for several seasons while battling Tourette Syndrome, he returned to the game with renewed determination and went on to become one of the Royals’ most valuable players. In 1989, he was named Kansas City’s Most Valuable Player.
Beyond his success on the field, Eisenreich has become a national advocate and motivational speaker, sharing his story of overcoming adversity and pursuing faith-driven purpose. He and his wife, Pamela, founded the Jim Eisenreich Foundation for Children with Tourette Syndrome, which supports children and families navigating the same disorder that once threatened to end his career.
Now residing in Liberty, Missouri, with his wife and four children, Eisenreich continues to inspire audiences across the country, speaking to schools, churches, and community organizations. The event is open to the public, and all are invited to attend an evening of encouragement and connection.

Ludlow Lions to Host Halloween Bingo Night Oct. 29
The Ludlow Lions are gearing up for a fun-filled evening of games, prizes, and community spirit with their upcoming Halloween Bingo Night. The event will be held Tues., Oct. 29, from 6-8 p.m.
Bingo cards are $20 each, and participants will have the chance to win a variety of prizes throughout the night.
BHMS Hosts Monthly Potluck for Parish
The Bishop Hogan Memorial School community in Chillicothe is keeping tradition alive with its monthly Parish Potluck. Held every third Sunday, the gathering takes place in the school cafeteria following the 10 a.m. Mass.
Parishioners are encouraged to bring a dish to share, creating a table full of homemade favorites that reflect both family recipes and the spirit of fellowship. The event offers a chance for members of the parish to connect, enjoy good food, and spend time together beyond the church service.

Faith & Family Bowling Nights Return to Fast Lane
Fall bowling season is officially underway, and Fast Lane Family Entertainment Center in Chillicothe is inviting families and friends to gather every Tuesday evening for its popular Faith & Family Night.
The weekly event runs from 3-8 p.m., offering affordable fun for all ages. Bowlers can enjoy games and shoes for just $3 each, or take advantage of the Family Special—$20 for up to five bowlers per lane, with shoes included. Adding to the experience, guests can grab the Pizza and Soda Combo Special to keep the energy going between frames.

GAP Home Seeking Volunteers
Grace and Purpose Home is reaching out to community members with a special request for skilled volunteers to help sustain its ministry and support women in recovery. The GAP House is seeking individuals willing to teach a craft, skill, or trade that can be developed into a micro-enterprise to raise funds during events.
Organizers say that skills such as baking, candle-making, sewing, jewelry design, woodworking, or other unique talents could be transformed into meaningful projects that benefit the women served by the recovery home. By sharing their expertise, volunteers will help create products that are both beautiful and purposeful.
