Although by no means a 1-girl gang, 2025 Chillicothe High School softball Lady Hornets junior pitcher Landry Marsh proved too hard for Savannah to handle when she batted in the Oct. 20 championship game of the Class 3 District 8 Tournament at Excelsior Springs. About to clout a low pitch hard and far over the left-center field fence for a 3-runs home run in the second inning, Marsh ended the game three for three at bat with three RBI, three runs scored, two walks, and two stolen bases. In the bottom of the ninth inning, her second walk and second steal set her up to score the game-ending run in CHS’ 6-5 victory on Hayden Hansen’s long single to deep left-center field. After a slow start throwing, she also shut out Savannah over the final five innings to buy time for her team to get the winning run that sends them into state-tournament play Saturday.
