Church Women United to Meet May 2
Church Women United will meet on Friday, May 2 at 9:30 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, 206 Locust Street, Chillicothe, to celebrate May Friendship Day. The ladies of St. Columban’s Catholic Church are co-hostesses.
The name of the program is “Agreed to Differ, Resolved to Love, United to Serve” and is based on Proverbs 31:30—“Charm is deceptive and beauty does not last, but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.”
Invite a friend and join us as we meet here in Chillicothe. May Friendship Day is observed worldwide on this day.
Church Women United is very important locally as it is the sponsor for the Mobile Meal Program. We are in need of volunteers to help deliver meals. Most volunteers just do one day a week for the month their church is responsible and fill-in volunteers are also needed. Either way the time commitment is minimal. If you are available to help, please contact Mobile Meal Coordinator Marcia Moss at 402-239-8470.
Grab the Sombrero and an Alibi: Sip to Host a Killer Event
Things are about to get spicy in Chillicothe, and not just because it’s Cinco de Mayo. On Saturday, May 3, 2025, The Sip Chillicothe is hosting a fiesta with a twist — a Murder Mystery Party that promises to be a killer time. Located at 304 Park Lane, this colorful, sombrero-sprinkled event invites guests 21 and over to trade their detective hats for sombreros and dive into an evening of food, fun, and fictional foul play.
Attendees won’t just be watching the drama unfold — they’ll be living it. Each ticket holder will be cast in a role, and approximately two weeks before the event, character assignments will be emailed. So yes, you could end up being the shady villain, the clueless bystander, or the sleuth who solves it all. Whether you’re in the spotlight as a main character or blending in as an extra, expect laughs, chaos, and plenty of clues.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the night begins with a taco bar buffet and dessert — because no mystery is solvable on an empty stomach. A full bar will be serving themed drink specials to keep the party sizzling while guests mingle, decipher secrets, and sip their way through a whodunit with a margarita twist.
Costumes are highly encouraged, so dust off that poncho or channel your inner mariachi. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance — either online or directly at The Sip. But fair warning: there are no refunds due to character assignments, so once you’re in, you’re in. Seating is limited, so don’t wait until someone else claims your spotlight (or your alibi).
Grab your crew, your detective instincts, and your most festive attire — because this Cinco de Mayo celebration is bringing the drama… and probably a few dramatic accusations.
