Starting Oct. 8, members of the public can join a Stay Strong, Stay Healthy class taught by University of Missouri Extension specialists at the Grand River Technical School in Chillicothe.

The Stay Strong, Stay Healthy program is built on simple, strength building exercises that will improve balance, health, and state of mind,  said Jessica Trussell, human development specialist with University Extension. She said the program is not strenuous weight-lifting, and that individuals will start at a level that’s right for them.

“No one is too inactive to participate,” she said. “Building strength promotes quality of life and independence; especially for adults over 50.”

Instructors have been trained by University of Missouri Extension to lead the program.

Registration is encouraged by Friday, Oct. 4. The class will meet twice a week for 10 weeks on Monday and Wednesday from 4 until 5 p.m. The cost is $20.
For more information, or to register, contact Jessica Trussell at the MU Extension Office at 660-646-0811. The class is sponsored by MU Extension and the Grand River Technical Center.
