Charles Eugene Sewell, 86, of Hale, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Livingston Manor Care Center in Chillicothe, Mo.

Gene was born Oct. 13, 1926, to Samuel and Silva (Lightle) Sewell in Tina, Mo. On May 8, 1948, in Carrollton, Mo., Gene married Lelah Marie Morris. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Lyle Devin, Larry, Lonnie and Dennita.

Gene graduated from Tina High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served in WWII. After the Army, Gene was a farmer. He was very proud of his family and farming operation. Gene was a member of the Hale Tractor Pullers and the Hale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 3464.

Gene is survived by three children, Larry and wife, Dianna Sewell of Hale, Mo., Lonnie and wife, Earlene Sewell of Mooresville, Mo., and Dennita Sewell of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Wohlgemuth of Chillicothe, Mo.; two grandchildren, Quinn Sewell and wife, Julie of Chillicothe, Mo., and Shawn Sewell and wife, Michelle of Chillicothe, Mo.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife; one son at birth, Lyle Devin; three brothers, Carl, Virgil and Herbert; one sister, Louise Summers; and one sister in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, from 12:30-1:45 p.m., at Bittiker Funeral Home, Carrollton, Mo. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Bruce Trussell officiating. Burial will be at Rock Branch Cemetery, Tina, Mo.
