On Wednesday, Sept. 23, at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers of the Chillicothe Police Department, Chillicothe School Officials, and Chillicothe Emergency Services responded to the intersection of U.S. 65 Highway and Highway 190 in reference to a two vehicle injury accident. Upon arrival, it was discovered there was one occupant in each vehicle. After further investigation it was found that a northbound vehicle failed to yield to oncoming traffic when attempting to turn onto 190 Highway. At that time a southbound vehicle struck the northbound vehicle head on. One of the occupants was injured, but both were assisted by Chillicothe EMS. Both vehicles were towed from the scene after receiving major damage. The accident is being investigated and citations may be issued for traffic violations. Authorities remind the public to be patient while in traffic especially in the morning in school areas. They also want to remind motorists that when they see an emergency vehicle with lights and siren behind them to pull over to the right as emergency personnel are trained to pass on the left for safety. Police extended words of appreciation for the citizens who were on scene for their assistance until emergency personnel arrived, and to the public for being patient while officers conducted traffic control.
