My father-in-law is known among our family members to tell some of the best stories. Our older sons and daughters grew up hearing them on the weekends that he and their grandma would visit us. His tall tales would lull them off to sleep and awaken them with a burst of eager anticipation in the morning. We all seem to crave stories don’t we? It doesn’t seem to matter if they’re in print, in song, in audio, or in visual forms. Stories can bore us or inspire us, but when God becomes the bedrock of our adventures–it’s then we have a life changing testimony.
Our jr. high class received a brief testimony from me this morning. Their wide eyes told me that they could relate to some of my childhood burdens. Sometimes we can feel so alone, but it’s amazing what a little encouragement can do. I believe God will use it to make an eternal difference in someone’s life. Now, wouldn’t that create some excitement?
There are a few verses in the Bible that compel me to share testimonies about what God is doing in my life. I hope they will encourage you today and if they remind you that our personal testimonies about Jesus matter–then I can breathe a sigh of relief. It matters so much, and is so critical, that even our greatest enemy doesn’t want us to share them. Let’s not give up expressing ourselves in the ways we are gifted–it makes a huge difference in heaven and it will continue to make a transforming impact upon this earth!
“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short.”
