May 8th through the 14th is National Hospital Week. For this special week, Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe wanted to recognize their past Employees of the Year. Jordan Ferguson, director of marketing and public relations, said that the past six consecutive Employees of the Year are still employed with HMC which he said is, “pretty incredible.” HMC Employee of the Year for 2010 was Crystal Stedem, 2011’s was Rebecca Roof, 2012’s was Anne Singer, 2013’s was Tasha Sackrey, 2014’s was Dorothy Wooden and 2015’s was Jennifer Clark. Other past Employee’s of the Year who are still currently employed by HMC include: Patricia Wever, 2008; Rachel Hayes, 2007; Jenny Moss, 2006; Diane Hicks, 2003; Martha Scott, 2001; Tracie Carriker, 1999; and Jeanne Parrish, 1994. Ferguson said he thinks employees have the desire to stay at HMC because of communication and respect, and because HMC gives employees the opportunities and tools needed to further their careers. “I think that Hedrick employees, from the top down, communicate well and respect each other,” Ferguson said. “I think that Hedrick allows employees to grow and learn in their roles and further their careers, whether it be through seminars and conferences, webinars, leadership training, and even tuition reimbursement. Many employees start in one position, but end up working their way into a leadership role over time.” 1994 HMC Employee of the Year, Jeanne Parrish (Patient Access Representative), said besides benefits, such as, health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, etc., she stays at HMC because of the opportunities HMC provides and the experiences and interactions between both co-workers and the public. “HMC has many opportunities and avenues which employees may explore. One can transfer from one department to another if experience permits,” Parrish said. “The experiences and interaction between the public and co-workers keep me enjoying what I like to do – that is to serve all to the best of my ability. Besides, HMC is the best place to get care and the best place to give care.” Parrish said what she likes most about her job is the people. “My job allows me the opportunity to communicate and interact with the public on a personal and a professional level. Patients are amazing people, despite their illness. I get much enjoyment listening to what they have to say and learn from their experiences,” Parrish said. “Showing compassion to patients, caring about them as a person, understanding their needs, and helping them stay positive, is just one simple step in aiding them through their healing process, in my opinion. But being rewarded with a simple ‘thank you’ from a patient or customer is most meaningful to me.” Below are short biographies on the past Employees of the Year listed earlier: 2015 Employee of the Year: Jennifer Clark.
