Betty Jo (McKiddy) Way, 78, Kidder, MO, passed away at her home on February 11, 2022. She resided in Kidder since 1998 and had previously lived in Hamilton.
Betty was born on December 12, 1943, in Chillicothe, MO, to Cecil and Viola (Albertson) McKiddy Shannon. She graduated from the Wheeling, MO, high school in 1961. Betty was employed by Wal-Mart from 1975-1995 as a Receiving Manager and then was employed by the Hamilton R-II school district from 1995-2014 as a Custodian.
Betty was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church where she enjoyed visiting with her friends and enjoying fellowship. Many will fondly remember her ability to make a person feel special, even in a crowded room, and the spunk she managed to bring into every conversation. Mama Way was just that: a mama to so many whether she offered encouragement, a loving smile, an honest opinion or showing others how to live a life full of love and laughter. One of Betty’s favorite pastimes was spending time with her family; watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren laugh and play together gave her great joy. On a warm summer day, Betty could often be found mowing her yard which was a task she thoroughly enjoyed; one might even find one of the grandkids “helping” drive the lawn mower. In the past she enjoyed doing ceramics and crafts. She was cherished as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents; step-dad-Bernard Shannon; and 4 sisters-in-law-Diane Way, Darlene Way, Delores Fulbright and Pat McKiddy.
On November 13, 1981, Betty married Herman Way at the Hamilton United Methodist Church. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors who will also miss her greatly include-Son, Randy (Debra) Pelton, Cameron; Daughter, Sarah (Sean) Connelly, Hamilton; 4 grandchildren-Caroline (Jeff) Maples, Randy-Allen Pelton, Lorelei and Orlin Connelly; 2 great-grandchildren-Bailey and Zoey Maples; Brothers-Cliff (Diane) McKiddy, Chillicothe, and Bernie Shannon, Mooresville, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
