A Golden Glow of Summer’s Past

There’s something magical about summer. Not the kind of magic that comes from fireworks or family vacations, (well…OK— those are really great parts about it too) but the kind that sneaks in with the hum of cicadas and the slow drip of a melting popsicle. It’s a nostalgia-soaked kind of wonder—the kind that lives in bare feet on hot pavement, the smell of chlorine and cut grass, and the timeless thrill of chasing lightning bugs with nothing but a jar and a little bit of hope.

Fatherless on Father’s Day— Why Time Is the Real Gift

For some, Father’s Day is cookouts and neckties. It’s phone calls and corny jokes. It’s awkward hugs and “thanks for always being there” kind of moments. But for others — for the ones who scroll past the Father’s Day sales and the heartwarming posts with a lump in their throat — the day hits differently. This is one of my many firsts without my Dad.

Letter to the Editor: Ballet Arts

I would like to congratulate Teresa Foli and Ballet Arts for another amazing recital this last weekend. I don’t know for sure how many annual recitals Ballet Arts has had but my daughter at age 3 was in first one and she is 37 now, so I am thinking she has had these for 34 years. I haven’t been to all of them but I went to all of them while my daughter was growing up and have been attending all while my granddaughter who is 13 has been in, so I have attended quite a few. Each show each year seems to somehow get better and better. The work by the dancers to prepare, and the work by the staff and volunteers and the production itself put together by Theresa Foli is really quite remarkable. The Performing Arts Center fills to near capacity for both Friday and Saturday so it is quite an event annually for Chillicothe and Livingston County.

Do You Think in Sentences? A Quick Thought about Having No Inner Dialogue

There’s something I struggle with and that’s overthinking. So I did a small dive into what it would be like to not have an inner dialogue. It was a phenomenon I only recently heard of and thought to myself, (and I knew it was me because I could hear my voice in my head), how do they keep their minds so still? I also wondered what would that be like? My silly inner dialogue keeps me overstimulated and in constant thought.
