Now that we’ve put winter behind us — at least on the calendar — it’s time for us to think about sprucing up our homes, inside and out. But it also may be time to do some financial spring cleaning.

SOUTHWEST TRACK MEET. The Southwest Track and Field Meet had one of their finest weather days for their track meet, which Mother Nature owed them after horrid conditions last year. A sunny day in the 70s was perfect for the 14 schools who brought varsity and middle school teams to the Chillicothe track.
Southwest School will conduct the annual Preschool (Pre-K) and Kindergarten Screenings on Tuesday, April 25 and Wednesday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. Children who will be attending Kindergarten or Preschool (Pre-K) this fall will be given the Dial 4 Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning test. The district will also screen the children’s hearing and vision. Families in the Southwest School District who have 4-year old children and are interested in their children attending preschool (Pre-K) must have their children take part in this screening process. Screening results are part of the criteria to determine placement in the Southwest Blended Preschool (Pre-K) morning session.
IT’S A BOY!!!!! Tristan Keith Leinbach arrived on April 10 to make his home with Christian and Amanda Leinbach, Linneus. He joins a brother, Jayden. Maternal grandparents are Andrew and Erla Burkholder, Linneus; paternal grandparents are Harry and Wilma Leinbach, Wheeling.
Paula Ranes, a patient access representative at Hedrick Medical Center (HMC), was honored as the hospital’s Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2023. Steve Schieber, CEO, presented the award to Ranes at a ceremony held in her honor.

The Olive Prindle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently announced the winners of the American History essay contest. The are Zane Myers Southwest R-l school, A.J. Warren 6th grade Bishop Hogan School, Nick Radcliff 7th grade Bishop Hogan School, Kierra Williams 8th Grade Bishop Hogan School and Heidi Gault, Chillicothe High School.
The Downtown Marceline Foundation has begun extensive renovation of a new vacation rental space on Main Street USA in the heart of Marceline, Missouri – Walt Disney’s hometown. Following a project led by the organization to secure the structural integrity of the Zurcher Building and prepare its ground floor for use as a viable business space, expansion is now underway to renovate the second floor as a premium short-term vacation rental for visitors to Marceline.
North Central Missouri College Foundation recently announced dual credit scholarships to 28 students in counties that fall within NCMC’s service area, including Chillicothe High School student Emily Wilford.
