Christopher awarded NCMC Foundation Dual Credit Scholarship

North Central Missouri College (NCMC) Foundation recently announced dual credit scholarships to 28 students in counties that fall within NCMC’s service area, including Gallatin High School student Emma Christopher. The recipients of the Jack N. Young, Mildred M. Young, Noble J. Young, and Myra A. Young Dual Credit Scholarship are given a one-time $324 scholarship to use toward their tuition. Over 130 applications were received and winners are selected by the NCMC Foundation Scholarship Committee.

Pastor’s Pen: A widening gap

I hope these last few weeks have been encouraging to you as you’ve maybe learned a few lessons you can apply in life situations. Since I have been campus pastor at Baptist Homes, I have learned much about the aging process. Some of it will hopefully be helpful in my own aging journey. Many of my memorable experiences have turned into sayings I tell myself and teach others who are facing aging issues. One such saying is, “As we age, the gap between what we can do and what we think we can do widens!”

Pastor’s Pen: Know when to be a duck

Last week I wrote about our motivations, and I hope it allowed you to identify some first and second motivations for why you do what you do. This week I want to talk about criticism. We all have faced criticism at one time or another in our lives. When it comes to criticism it is important for us to, “know when to be a duck and when to be a rhinoceros.” These are two very different ways in which we need to receive criticism that can make us better and not crush us.

CPD, CFD receive grants

Over the last year, the City of Chillicothe Fire Department and Police Department applied for and received over $11,000 on grants from MIRMA’s risk management grant. According to a post on social media, with the funds the police department has purchased an in-car camera, two tasers, and a new body worn camera system.
