Chillicothe R-II’s Fine Arts and Business Departments Receive $180,304 from generous late resident

Two very different departments in the Chillicothe R-II School District - the Music Department and the Business Department at the Grand River Technical School - have been named the recipients of $180,304.89, thanks to a donation made by the Chillicothe Education Foundation on behalf of the late Loraine M. Roark, of Chillicothe. And, as well as this sizable gift, a $5,000 scholarship in Loraine’s name will also be given annually to one qualifying Chillicothe High School Senior who is pursuing a degree in Business, Business Education, Music or Music Education; from a twoyear, four-year, or vocational learning institution.

No basic law enforcement Academy for Livingston County

Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox has announced there will not be a basic law enforcement academy in Chillicothe. “The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) along with the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association had spent significant time in organizing a Basic Law Enforcement Academy to be held in Chillicothe later this month with graduation planned for December 2023,” Cox said in a press release.

World War II Marine Honored

Saturday morning, January 7, 2023, at the American Legion District Two meeting, at Brookfield Trinity Methodist Church, Terry Collins, Commander of the Brookfield Ernest A. McNish Legion Post 182, presented Kenneth Almond a Certificate of Recognition for 45 years membership as an American Legion member. Almond is a United States Marine Corps World War II Veteran.
