MoDOT, Safety Partners Aim for Zero Fatalities on Missouri’s Roads

For the sixth year, the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, along with various safety partners, schools and businesses throughout the state, are encouraging better driving behaviors as part of Buckle Up Phone Down Day; and this year, aiming for the goal of zero traffic fatalities throughout the day. Missouri’s 2022 Seat Belt Usage Survey showed 89% of vehicle occupants use a seat belt, matching the highest rate the state has ever recorded.

Schmidt Completes D.A.R.E. Training

Chillicothe R-II School Resource Officer Brian Schmidt recently completed D.A.R.E. Officer Training School, graduating at the end of September after two weeks of training in Jefferson City. SRO Schmidt is now certified to instruct students in drug abuse resistance from preschool through high school.

Efforts to Develop a Plan for the Impaired Thompson River Watershed to Begin Soon

Governor Mike Parson has proclaimed October 2022 as Clean Water Month in Missouri. In the proclamation, Governor Parson noted that Oct. 18 marks the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, which aimed to prevent, reduce and eliminate pollution and restore and maintain the chemical, physical and biological integrity of the nation’s waters.
