Upcoming Online September MU Extension Forage and Livestock Hour Meetings

“As central and southern Missouri cattle producers recovery from the drought proper operational management will be key to optimum profitability,” says Patrick Davis MU Extension Livestock Field Specialist. MU Extension ag field specialists are working together to hold the online MU Extension Forage and Livestock Hour meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays in September at noon. These meetings will provide education to cattle operations on cattle markets and culling strategies to help these operations make management decisions to promote optimum profitability.

MDC Grant Helps Purchase Track-Chairs For Missouri Disabled Sportsmen

Specialized trackchairs help the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) make nature and the outdoors more accessible to all outdoor enthusiasts. MDC recently awarded a grant to Missouri Disabled Sportsmen (MDS) to assist in the purchase of four trackchairs and an enclosed trailer. These all-terrain track-chairs will allow MDS to expand their services and create more opportunities for those they serve.

Haley Selected as NCMC’s Outstanding Student

Allison Haley, Chillicothe, has been selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Student for August. Allison, a Missouri A+ scholarship student, is in her second year at NCMC studying psychology and working on her Associate in Arts degree. Haley will graduate in December and transfer to the University of Central Missouri to complete a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She hopes one day to be a clinical psychologist. Haley is a tutor at the Tutoring Center and is actively involved with the BSU (Baptist Student Union). Her favorite class is psychology and anything with Dr. Lindsay Oram. “The instructors are really encouraging at NCMC,” she said. “I feel like my dreams can become a reality here.” Haley went on to say, “I chose NCMC because my sister went here and had good things to say, and I wanted to stay close to home.”

Andy & Judy Daigle Song Writing Workshop and Concert

The Livingston County Library will be hosting a special song writing workshop followed by a concert with Andy & Judy on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Main Library, 450 Locust Street. Andy & Judy Daigle perform as the folk duo, Andy & Judy. They perform regularly at libraries, coffeehouses and concert venues throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Great Lakes regions. Their close harmonies blend Judy’s evocative alto and Andy’s rich baritone. Beginning instrumentally with a classic folk guitar base, Andy & Judy have deepened their sound through the addition of mandolin, banjo, piano, harmonica, ukulele and percussion. Their songwriting style has emerged from old-time traditional and folk music and includes country, gospel and popular music.
