WYATT, Mo. (AP) — At least one person was killed Monday when a house exploded in southeast Missouri and a neighboring home erupted in flames, authorities said.

NCMC Offering Continuing Education Course on YouTube Content Creation

North Central Missouri College (NCMC) will offer a community education course on creating content, connecting, and increasing subscribers on the popular social media platform You-Tube. Missouri You-Tubers Meet-Up is a free course for anyone 13 years or older. The session will be on August 16 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton. Attendees should be aware the session will be filmed, and they could be featured on You-Tube. Registration is reguired.

East Locust Creek Reservoir to be Named “Roy Blunt Reservoir”

At their regularly scheduled monthly meeting, the North Central Missouri Regional Water Commission (NCMRWC) voted unanimously to name the East Locust Creek Reservoir (ELCR) in honor of Missouri’s senior Senator, Roy Blunt. Both the Sullivan County Commission and the NCMRWC received a letter from Governor Mike Parson to consider naming the ELCR in honor of retiring Senator Blunt. Chairman Harve Rhodes placed the issue on the agenda for consideration. Breaking precedent, and with the permission of the Commissioners, the public was invited to share their thoughts and opinions relative to the naming of the reservoir before taking up the Resolution for consideration.

the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), has announced investments of nearly $6.2 million in American Rescue Plan funding to grow the health workforce and increase access to quality health care in rural communities in Missouri. The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to improving health outcomes and promoting health equity in rural America. In 2021, thanks to President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, the Department of Health and Human Services invested over $16 billion to strengthen rural health.
