CHS Leadership Class helps Verelle Peniston Student Play-to-Learn

With the support of loyal Hornet fans and the generosity of area businesses, Jam the Gym fundraising efforts afforded the CHS Leadership Class to present the Verelle Peniston students and faculty a check for $1400.00 to continue their play-to-learn efforts where students can get their bodies moving as part of their learning and discovery. Ripley awarded Bob Carter Memorial Scholarship

The annual Bob Carter Memorial Scholarship awarded by friends in memory of the late, long-time Constitution-Tribune sports editor and photographer, was presented to pending 2022 Chillicothe High School graduate Claire Ripley during the school’s May 6 senior awards assembly/program. With the recipient is her mother Cathy, news editor at the C-T for the last 10 of Carter’s 27 years on the paper’s staff. Only in his early 50s, Carter died in a November 2001 traffic crash. Around Town Chillicothe

Main Street Chillicothe and the Livingston County Library will be holding another mural and historic building tour in downtown Chillicothe to celebrate Preservation Month. Participants will meet at Silver Moon Plaza on Webster Street on Friday, May 27 at 10 a.m. Come prepared for any weather – hats, sunscreen, water, umbrellas. The tour may take up to two hours but participants can come and go as they need to. Pre-registration is requested. Contact Main Street at 660-646-4071 or the Library at 660-646-0647 to register. There is no charge to participate.

Record of Decision Signed for the East Locust Creek Reservoir in Sullivan County

The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Missouri signed a Record of Decision (ROD) on May 11, supporting the installation of a multi-purpose reservoir in Sullivan County. The decision concludes extensive environmental analysis and fulfills National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) re quirements for NRCS.
