A former teacher and coach in Braymer has been denied bond in one of two cases that allege sexual abuse toward a student. On Thursday, Zachary Wayman Douglas, 29, Utica, was once again denied bond on the charges of four felony counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two felony counts of second-degree statutory sodomy, and four felony counts of sexual contact with a student.

Michael Thomas Gulley, 45, Marceline, has been charged with in two separate cases with first degree sexual abuse. On March 31, Gulley was charged with alleged felony first-degree sexual abuse and fourth degree assault, from crimes alleged to have occurred between July 20, 2021 and Aug.
This weekend there are a variety of events going on in downtown Marceline, including the annual Classic Car Show, a Toy Show and two-day Train Show. The annual Marceline Classic Car Show will be held beginning at 9 a.m., on Main and California streets, with awards at 2 p.m.
The Turkey Creek Bridge, located on Carroll County Missouri Route E between Missouri Route D and Missouri Route PP, will close soon for a bridge replacement project. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) contracted with Mera Excavating, LLC to complete the project.
A sealing project on Missouri Route 6 in Grundy and Sullivan counties will now begin May 9. It was postponed one week, due to weather. Crews from Vance Brothers, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), now plan to begin sealing Missouri Route 6 at Route 129 in Green City and progress west to U.S. Highway 65 in Trenton.
On Monday a program of Creative Pathways called Better Days opened, offering day services tailored to individuals over 18 with disabilities, and each of their unique needs and wants. Its been two years since the community spoke out saying there was a need for a day program like this, which sparked the interest and staff at Creative Pathways who began planning to open the services, however, COVID slowed progress.
The Industrial Technology Associates of Applied Science degree will be available to students at North Central Community College (NCMC) starting the spring semester of 2023. This associate’s degree includes industrial technology classes and the required general education classes. Students can also earn a certificate by taking industrial technology classes to update their skills in business and industry.
