Voters approve CR-II Questions A and B

When patrons of the Chillicothe R-II School District went to the polls Tuesday they voted “yes” to approve both questions the district had placed on the ballot. The Chillicothe R-II School District was asking voters to say “yes” on Question A and Question B for a no tax increase for a Brighter Future for Chillicothe students.

MoDOT Urges Drivers to “Work with Us” in Work Zones

Crashes with protective vehicles with truck/trailer-mounted attenuators (TMAs) increased yet again in 2021, accompanied by 17 work zone fatalities. These numbers make Missouri’s 2021 construction season one that will be unfortunately remembered. Crashes and fatalities should not be happening in work zones. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is urging drivers to help reverse the trend in 2022. Motorists are urged to make smart, safe driving choices behind the wheel as part of National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 11-15.

169 Law Enforcement Agencies Cleared Backlog of Kits, 3 Prosecutions Underway

In a major milestone, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced at a press conference that the Attorney General’s Office has worked with 169 law enforcement agencies to clear their backlogs of untested, report sexual assault kits. In total, 3,298 untested, reported kits have been sent to the lab to be tested. Further, because of the work of the SAFE Kit Initiative State Coordinator Judge M. Keithley Williams and her team, there are currently three active prosecutions that are a direct result of CODIS hits from kits that were tested through the SAFE Kit Initiative.

CMU hires two

On Tuesday during a closed session meeting the Chillicothe Board of Public Works approved the hiring of Tim Corbin and Mark Regan by a vote of 3-0. Corbin was hired as a Wastewater Plant Operator/Maintenance employee and Regan as an Underground Facilities Crewmember.

Board approves personnel changes

During a closed executive session meeting Wednesday morning the Chillicothe R-II School Board unanimously voted to make the following personnel changes. Newly hired certified staff includes: Kelsey Butler, High School, Business Ed Teacher; Terria Cox, Field School, Principal; Dylan Hultman, Middle School, Assistant Principal; and Shane Miller, High School Math.
