The body of a Blue Springs man was found at the Poosey Conservation area in Livingston County on Feb. 19. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to the Wind Pump Trail after receiving the call at about 2:47 p.m. on Feb. 19. Jamesport residents reported finding the body.

Here are some issues to discuss with your tax professional: COVID-19-related distributions and recontributions – If you took a coronavirus-related distribution (withdrawal) from a retirement account, such as a 401(k) or IRA, in 2020 and chose to spread the amount equally over three years, you need to include the relevant part of the distribution on your 2021 tax return, so you should bring your 2020 Form 1099- R to your tax advisor.
A free Birding Workshop and hike will be held from 8:30 a.m. -12 p.m., on March 14 at Wallace State near Cameron. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is hosting the free program with MDC conservation educator Adam Bransgaard will lead the hike and discuss bird species commonly spotted in winter, what natural habitats attract birds, and how to identify birds. Winter is a good time for birding, since the lack of foliage makes spotting them easier.

March 1 marks the annual opening of catch-and-keep trout fishing in Missouri at the state’s four trout parks: Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon, Montauk State Park near Licking, Roaring River State Park near Cassville, and Maramec Spring Park near St. James. The catch-and-keep season at the trout parks runs through Oct. 31.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri Republican Party on Wednesday said it would not accept a filing fee from a state representative who is facing federal fraud charges.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will collect a $130,243 penalty from Champion Brands LLC, a producer and seller of automotive lubricants, to resolve alleged violations of the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. According to EPA, the company failed to submit required annual reports listing releases of toxic chemicals at the company’s facility in Clinton, Missouri.
