MDC reminder that catch-and-keep trout season starts March 1 at trout parks

March 1 marks the annual opening of catch-and-keep trout fishing in Missouri at the state’s four trout parks: Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon, Montauk State Park near Licking, Roaring River State Park near Cassville, and Maramec Spring Park near St. James. The catch-and-keep season at the trout parks runs through Oct. 31.

The Livingston County Preservation Society unveiled and inducted local architect R. Warren Roberts into Chillicothe Hall of Fame event on Feb. 20 at the Livingston County Courthouse.

Rep. Rusty Black and his wife Karie sponsored this exhibit. Rodney Mouton shared some background on the Chillicothe Hall of Fame then read the exhibit piece biography. Warren Roberts’ accomplishments are quite impressive. Rep. Black then shared a few words about the importance of our history. Kirsten Mouton closed with a call for new nominations. As an added surprise, several descendants of Roberts, including George and Linda Roberts, and Todd and Langdon who brought a scrapbook.

Historically Yours: Evolution of the Executive Branch

The Executive Branch of the United States bears little resemblance to the Constitution as written by our forefathers in 1787. After a cursory examination of that document, one will notice that there are no instructions on how to elect a vice president. In fact, no one ran for vice president during any of our first four presidential elections. How, then, did John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Aaron Burr become our first three vice presidents? Because each of them was the first runner-up for the office of President.

One additional hazard part time farmers constantly deal with is the stress of managing two jobs and a lack of time for farming activities. “Farming is very weather and window-of-time dependent,” Brandi Janssen, Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Iowa’s Department of Occupational and Environmental Health, says.

Xi Alpha Kappa donates to CHS Cares Closet

Members of the Xi Alpha Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi presented donations to Chillicothe High School for the CHS Cares Closet. Sorority member, Julie Barnes, saw a recent post on the Bright Futures Chillicothe Facebook Page calling for feminine hygiene and other personal care items as an immediate need at CHS. Sorority members donated items during the month of January.
