Safely Sizing and Using a Standby Generator

With the first couple of winter storms have come power outages and people looking for ways to prepare for future power outages. While snow can be a hazard when driving, it generally causes few problems to our utilities. Ice on the other hand, can cause major problems. A layer of ice ¼ inch thick adds over 500 pounds of weight to power lines. As the layer of ice gets thicker, the weight increases to dangerous levels. A little wind or a falling tree limb and both lines and poles can break causing power outages that can last for days.

Damaged mural causes pocket park to close

Last week Main Street Chillicothe notified citizens of the closing of the pocket park where the Graham’s Mill Mural is painted. The mural has damage to it and upon inspection, Main Street leadership felt it was in the best interest to close the park, following the damage sustained during high winds several weeks ago when a piece of the mural came off.

Removal of Memory tree bulbs

The Memory Tree Bulbs need to be taken off the Memory Tree in Silver Moon Plaza by the Jan. 28, according to a press release from Pam Jarding, executive director of Mian Street Chillicothe. If you purchased a memory tree bulb and want to have it, you may take it off the tree yourself, or Main Street will hold it for you, upon request.
