Capitol Report: Week 2

Hello 7th District; As we are getting back into the swing of things here in our second week of session, I would like to express how grateful I am to continue to serve the 7th district. Not only has the budget kicked off in full swing but my other committees have also followed suit.

Partisan divide on COVID policy widens in state legislatures

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — In Democratic-led Washington state, just four lawmakers were present in the 98-member House this week as they convened a mostly remote session with an abundance of caution. Anyone working there is required to be tested for COVID-19 three days a week and show proof of vaccination — including a booster shot — to step onto the House floor.

BEYOND REASON: Man versus Machine

I like machines. Occasionally, usually on the couch, I envision an idyllic future, like the one in The Jetsons, where a robot rolls over to me with a martini. In the timeless classic by Flight of the Concords, the song Robots, set in “the distant future, the year 2000”, it is Man vs. Robot. The song is so good I’m rooting for the robots! And who could forget Short Circuit, the 1986 film starring Steve Guttenberg alongside a delightful robot, Number 5? The picture also gave us the hit single Who’s Johnny, by El Debarge. Okay, fine. Most people forgot that film but I did not! #neverforget!

First Baby of 2022

Baby Theodore, the first baby delivered in 2022 at Hedrick Medical Center, he was born on Jan. 3, to Chillicothe residents Daniel and Amanda Burch. Theodore weighed 10 lbs 5 oz and was 22 1/2 inches long. In 2021, Hedrick Medical Center performed 260 deliveries, with 263 babies born (three set of twins). There were 149 boys and 114 girls.
