The annual “Teddy Bear Toss”

The annual “Teddy Bear Toss” charity event organized by the Chillicothe High School student council took place during the Jan. 4, CHS boys’ basketball home game against Lawson. As has been done once a season for over a decade now, immediately following the first Hornets field goal of the contest, fans in the stands were allowed and encouraged to fire new or nearlynew stuffed animals onto the court. The donated items were cleared from the playing floor in about a minute and collected for provision to members of Chillicothe and Livingston County emergency-service personnel, who in turn can utilize them as a good-will gesture by providing them to young children in difficult or distressing situations they encounter during the performance of their duties. At least several dozen stuffed animals – perhaps approaching 100 – were tossed during the event. (PAUL STURM/C-T PHOTO)
